Are you out and about and need a quick makeshift backpack in a pinch? It can be done! so Go on and CARRY ON!
below you will find the tutorial on how to transform the original external net into a makeshift backpack. It is just a guide, be mindful of your opening that you close and cinch up and not to make gaps that your belongings can fall out. As always you can use your favorite carabiners and other accessories to complete it and make it more of your own. Try not to overthink many of the processes in cinching it up, and try not to get frustrated with lots of meshes overlapping and you feel you lost your start and finish points.. please enjoy the All American backpack accessory.
It all starts with the original external backpack net
Start out by spreading your net out, short tail on top, long tail on bottom, it doesn’t matter which side it’s on.
Hook your bottom corners to the top
Hook the last mesh from the long tail up to the top where the short tail is (let the long tail hang) than the other corner ( the fixed end I call it) up to the short tail.
This is the basket area and next your gonna want to close up the holes/voids, and that is where the long tail comes in
Time to close it up
I find it easier to place an object in the pouch area and hold the net up it up so you can see what needs to be closed up.
In this photo that big hole at the back of my hard hat is what we are going to cinch up with the long tail, and I just weave in and out thru the meshes real quick, the remainder of the long tail will hang at the bottom when you lash your last mesh.
Your basket area
Good work, I tie a knot at that last mesh on the bottom where the long tail is hanging because it will act like a drawstring(unless that is what you want, many options here!)…and if you need more rope undo the daisy chain to give you more.
2 more holes/voids to close up
where my sneakers are there are two bigger holes/voids that need to be closed, I close one with the short tail from the top of the net and I leave the other open for my entrance to my pouch and use the clip to close, if I need to close tight then I use the short tail to cinch up both tight (no right or wrong way here, just be mindful of the size of your stuff and in relation with the meshes and openings you create.)Let’s get to the straps next.
The long-tail can be longer.
Remember the long tail was hanging, I placed a knot at the last mesh so it doesn’t act like a drawstring and stays put. Well, the remainder of the long tail feeds thru a mesh at the top. (any mesh at any spot.)and clip towards the bottom of your makeshift pack and you have your straps, if need be, undo your daisy chain for more rope.
